Last Message from BA

It has been raining since last Sunday and quite heavy today. I'm meeting Rose to have some coffee before I leave. I barely fitted all my purchases in my bags...I hope they won't charge me too much for over the weight limit. I'm sure there will be lots of delays at the airport, especially since they still haven't fixed the radar system. I have arranged the taxi to pick me up at 5 this afternoon. I'm so sad to leave here!

Guitar Lessons

Went to dinner with Rose last night in the Design center in Retiro. It started to rain heavily after dinner and of course all the cabs where full. We waited for half hour and finally decided to just walk. Luckily I don't feel sick today since it was kind chilly last night and I was soaked on the way home. I ended up not getting home until 2 am.

Had another lesson with Narciso today. We spoke about different rhythmic patterns for accompaniment on the guitar and some harmony issues. I'll be meeting him on Wednesday morning in a music store on Sarmiento and Callao to look at some guitars. I don't think I'll be buying anything this time and I have a feeling I'm looking for slightly better guitars than the ones in the store. Ideally I would really like to custom order one with a slightly shorter scale length for easier playing. I'll have to do a little more research when I go back to Rochester. I know one good maker in Spain but I don't know how long it would take get one made just for me. I have a pretty good idea about the pricing for guitars but it's always kind of a guessing game sometimes with purchases in other countries as a traveler. I have two more lessons with Narciso before I leave on Friday and we're going to speak more about harmonies.

Shoe Report

Hola Jan

I just came back from Patagonia two days ago. Dancing has been great! Went to Salon Canning on Tuesday night, Nacional on Wednesday night and now I´m getting ready to go to Ideal for Tubatango. Let´s just say they´re interesting.
I had the chance to see Colortango in Salon Canning two weeks ago. They were amazing. I went out and got all their CDs. Also saw the Kings of Tango (Los Reyes Del Tango), very enjoyable.

CITA is going to start next week. I still don´t have a good partner. oh, well, we´ll see how that goes. I had a lesson with Luciana Valle two weeks ago, going to have another one tomorrow. I like her a lot and she has been very helpful. She also remembers you.

I have reached my shoe quota for this trip: 10 pairs. I don´t think I´ll be buying any more...it´s going to be difficulte to bring everything back to the US.

ciao
Liren

El Calafate

Mt Torre and Fitz Roy were just amazing. I think Fitz Roy is higher (3400m) but Torre is harder to climb because of the snow cap on the top. Hiking around El Chalten was by far the best part of my trip.

Rose, Garry and I went on another boat tour to see the Upsala Glacier. The weather was very windy and rainy. I stayed in the boat most of the time. Calafate is such a tourist trap. I don't like the town all that much so we're going to catch an earlier flight back to Buenos Aires. Everything is over priced here and businesses are trying to get out as much money out of tourist as possible. I didn't get the same impression from the other places on the trip, well, except when I missed the daily busyin El Chalten and had to take a taxi to catch up to it.

I'm so glad I came on this trip. Patagonia is amazing and the steaks are just unbelieveable. I met lots of great people on the road.

Glacier

Went to see the glaciers today. It wasn´t all exciting after seeing Fitz Roy in El Chalten. I wish I had spent more time there and gone trekking with people, it´s so addictive. I ran into few people I met on the trail today and they said the trail for the second day was pretty difficult. There are few good trails around town and it's possible to hike almsot two third way around Mt. Fitz Roy (one side is mostly glaciers). I met some pretty serious hikers out there who are staying in their tents for few weeks to 3 months. Not sure if I would want to do that, it gets pretty cold and windy there.

No Worries Mom

Hi Mom

I´m still traveling through Patagonia. I´m currently in a small town name El Chalten. I met a lot of new friends here from all over the world. We went for an 8-hour hike today to the base of a famous montain here. It´s call Friz Roy.
Tomorrow I will take the bus to El Calafate and stay there for 4 nights. I will take some tours there to see the glaciers. I will be flying back to Buenos Aires on March 6th. I will email you more when I get there. I´m doing very well so please do not worry about me. Say hi to Dada for me.

Good luck on moving.
