On the Road: Pictures from Mars

April and I left Rochester at 1am Wednesday morning. We drove through the rain storm in Penn. and by dinner time we met up with her uncle in Omaha. I was hoping for some good steak but we went to Chili's instead. I felt pretty good after dinner so we decided to continue driving and maybe get a place for the night outside of Denver. By the time April woke up we were well into Colorado and I was more awake than ever even without any energy drinks. April is terribly afraid to drive through the steep mountains so I drove across the whole state on my own at 3am. The yellow “scenic viewpoint” signs on the side of the road reminded us what we were missing in the dark. The night went by quickly. We crossed into Utah as the sun came up behind us. After switching into the passenger seat I slept for half hour or so before driving so more. There were no signs of life in Utah. If a UFO landed there the aliens would think earth is uninhabited by any life forms. Some parts reminded me of the drive between Bariloche and Calafate in Patagonia or pictures from Mars. We finally pulled into Las Vegas at 6pm local time. The whole trip felt much shorter than I anticipated. After a much needed shower we headed to the buffet!
